A secluded campsite in rural Essex, near both the coast and the city. Our pretty Kelvedon Hatch Club campsite in the heart of leafy Essex serves those campers seeking the excitement and attractions of the capital as well as those looking for a relaxing break on the Essex coast.
The pretty village of Kelvedon Hatch – best known for its once-secret nuclear bunker, now a museum, is close by.
Also close is Brentwood, with Mountnessing Windmill – a restored, working post mill – and Old Mac Donald’s Farm, a leisure park aimed at children.
You can also catch a train from the town to London – buses to the station stop half a mile from site with trains leaving every 10 minutes to the city. Three Shells, the town’s most central beach, offers easy access to Adventure Island, the Pier and numerous shops, cafes and amusements.
Also try the Blue Flag, dog-friendly Canvey Island Beach in the Thames Estuary and the Blue Flag Sandy Shoebury East and Shoeburyness Beaches. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents). There is a good farm shop a mile and a half from Site, selling a range of local produce, including fruit, vegetables and meat.
Using Google Maps or Sat Nav may take you on an unsuitable route from the M25, please follow our location map for a better approach to Kelvedon Hatch Club Site. We have been 3 times now and feel very relaxed here. Would recommend this for a long weekend or stopover. The only thing I would change is the shop opening times, whenever we wanted anything it wasn't open.
100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. Nearby is Brentwood high street if you needed anything, and also locally a fish and chip shop and a pub. We have a large motorhome and cannot visit anywhere unless within cycling distance.
This site is a bit out of the way to visit if going anywhere by foot but we were happy to stay at the site for 2 days whilst family visited.
The toilets & showers were really clean and had everything you need, with lovely hot water.
The site has taps and bins located on site but no recycling points which is a little disappointing as I hate throwing bottles, card and cans in with rubbish.
